FRIDGE: an interactive code generation environment for HW/SW codesign

چکیده
Digital mobile systems are sensitive to power consumption, chip size and costs. Therefore they are realized using xed-point architectures, either dedicated HW or xed-point processors. On the other hand, system design starts from a oating-point description. These requirements have been the motivation for FRIDGE , a design environment for the speci cation, evaluation and implementation of xed-point systems. FRIDGE o ers a seamless design ow from a oating-point description to a xed-point implementation. Within this paper we focus on the FRIDGE-concept of an interactive, automated transformation of oating-point programs written in ANSI-C into xed-point speci cations, based on an interpolative approach. Since HW and SW implementations of the same functionality in general require di erent xed-point speci cations, the design time reductions that can be achieved by using FRIDGE make it a key component for an e cient HW/SW-CoDesign.

Systematic Embedded Software Generation from SystemC
The embedded software design cost represents an important percentage of the embedded-system development costs [1]. This paper presents a method for systematic embedded software generation that reduces the software generation cost in a platform-based HW/SW codesign methodology for embedded systems based on SystemC. The goal is that the same SystemC code allows system-level specification and veri...
متن کاملTrade-Offs in HW/SW Codesign
HW/SW codesign is becoming an increasingly more interesting research field because most practical systems consist of both HW and SW. In this paper we explore a bottom up HW/SW codesign strategy to investigate trade-offs in time behavior and area. A comparison of hardware and software implementations of low level modules is given. A first prototype implementation extracts time and area criteria ...
متن کاملAutomatic generation of interfaces for distributed C-VHDL cosimulation of embedded systems: an industrial experience
This paper presents a distributed hardware/software cosimulation environment for heterogeneous systems pro-totyping applied to an industrial application. The environment provides following features: distributed Hw/Sw cosimulation, automatic Hw/Sw interface generation, Hw elements can be described at different levels of abstraction and generic/specific Sw debuggers can be used. Starting from a b...
متن کاملThe Assert Set of Tools for Engineering (taste): Demonstrator, Hw/sw Codesign, and Future
This paper reports the results of a project funded by ESA on the use and development of TASTE (The ASSERT Set of Tools for Engineering). TASTE is a set of tools which, ruled by a clear methodology, aims to ease and secure the building of Real-Time Embedded (RTE) systems. The first goal of this project was to evaluate TASTE with an industrial case study, the realization of a satellite demonstrat...
متن کاملHW/SW codesign techniques for dynamically reconfigurable architectures
Hardward/software (HW/SW) codesign and reconfigurable computing are commonly used methodologies for digitalsystems design. However, no previous work has been carried out in order to define a HW/SW codesign methodology with dynamic scheduling for run-time reconfigurable architectures. In addition, all previous approaches to reconfigurable computing multicontext scheduling are based on static-sch...
